Ever wondered what would have been Adam's surname? Considering that all surnames ..well most of them are based on ppl's occupation, after meticulous thought and analysis of all things he wud have probably done.. I strongly feel he shud have been Love. There you get the world's first surname. Even a few years back you would have seen certain David Love playing golf against certain Fred Couples(indicating, thats apart from what they do the best. Somewhere down the line circa no particular period, for all practical purposes , people changed their surnames and also dint stick to doing what their names claimed, else we wudnt have had an Engineer keeping wickets or a Courier delivering the best kick serve.

Surnames, sure are fascinating, diversified and perfect misnomers most of the time. A gal might still be Johnson(technically might be Williamson's, jus that Johnson isnt aware), So is the case of Indian pillais even if the baby is a gal. Indian surnames are mostly caste based, some are always Reddy, some crude and Rao, some really shetty. For a country like India so diverse, a typical south Indian would often associate Sharma with a bus rather than a Northie brahmin. Then there are godlevel surnames in Devar, found very south of India and warriers in nearby God's own country. Interestingly, Rajesh was really a pilot . Weirdly enuf Many of the Singh's in India are neither Sikh nor even Punjabi and have really bad voices. A few people have Mistry names named not so accordingly..

Very few like wordsmith had ever had a proper name, I would say or may be even Sharad Powar. There was an old joke arnd early 90s abt RSA cricketers not 2 have worried abt food ,they had Rice, Wessels and a Cook. thats better than their neighbour Zimbabwe's 1st president was actually a person named Banana, probably his mom thot Banana Sr was bad in bed ;) Noteworthingly,every one wanted Moore from Michael after his Farenheit 9/11. More often than less, we have surnames after ppl's jobs rather than the kind of job as in the case of Sooni Taraporevala.

O'Ghosh! there r so many interesting surname connects and disconnects, Woodbridge might never have been related to a Contractor nor a Sen, Dutch ! Udayar may even be a beggar and Tyagi never so, Mammooty aka Mohd Kutty, but a big actor. Bhat, of course !

Attend the unconference wikicamp.in, India's first and only unconference on wikis's.. Had a chance to brush shoulders with Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia founder, Atul Chitnis, man behind Foss.in n SVP, GeoDisc , lot more of some intelluctual crowd n tech enthusiasts.

Having missed blogcamp and the barcamps, dint want to miss out on this. More on unconferences can be found at wikipedia and infact TKF, The Knowledge Foundation(team behind blogcamp and wikicamp) is planning out on a book on unconference, of course wiki based!

Jimmy Wales was so unassuming, had flown down to chn for this meet. He gave abt a dozen interviews, for media, podcasts for podcasters and atleast 100 fotograhic sessions. In his keynote to the unconference, he gave an insight on wikipedia, his current n future projects, wikia and wikia search, an open source search algorithm.

Prominent Wikipedia contributors had graced the occasion and gave a comprehensive insight of their wiki experiences.. The event went thru the aftertoon with some good lunch, some 'mokkai' sessions and meeting some interesting ppl.

Good thing(sometimes bad) abt unconferences is most ppl come to such events to be among the intelluctual crowd and in such cases, the theme of the event is lost sometimes. This event was no exception, tho the theme was abt wikis, ppl thronged arnd jimmy wales most of the time.
Overall a new n enriching experience.

2 movies and an unconference

its two months since I posted on this blog.. Lifez been quite different after I moved to chennai, new ppl, new state, new work profile... Not sure how in this new environment, my lifez gonna be..

Wanted to write abt a very interisting weekend I had, some 2 weeks back.. Watched two amazing movies and attended an unconference wikicamp.in

Paruthiveeran and Mozhi
both have been awarded 46/100 by vikatan.
Ameer and Radha has done a really tremendous job ..3rd movie for both of them..
Very simple storyline but screenplay and witty dialogs are trademarks of the 2 movies

PV is a movie which wud leave a heaviness after u watch it.. I felt the climax was an overdose and bit out of my comfort zone, nevertheless its that climax which wud make u leave the theater( or switch off ur DVD player/Media player in case) with a heavy heart..
Amazing cinematography and excellent choice of color usage ..u know..in a place where the best plantation available is cacti in nature..The Brownish tinge in the movie gives u a very realistic picture of whatz a rural 'Theni' looks like.. Characterisation is simply amazing, every role had a purpose.. from the small lad who roams with the 'sandiyar' hero(his attire is always some 20 yrs above his age..indicating his coterie) to the mom whose uninhibited verbal attack on both her daughter and husband time and again. Folk fair, caste(neatly handled), ppl, their mindsets.. everything abt rural atmosphere, name it, the movie has it. But for the climax, it was near-perfect movie. Karthik, amazing performance on debut..Priya Mani's char was amazing, a lifetime role for any heroine.. and she proved shez one of the best in business.

Yuvan was amazing, its all in the bloodline, have had his dad sing the 'Ariyatha vayasu'.. almost had feel that Raaja is singing in his own composition.. background score had the raw native feel,a very big asset to screenplay. Almost every dialog was witty and had that 'grammathu nakal'. The problem with the climax was it 2 was 2 natural and generally ppl dont goto movies to see pain.

Mozhi, a perfect feel-gud refreshing movie. Unlike to PV, chars had a very urban(e) lifestyle, posh apartments, attires jus out fresh from the rack, 5am jog in the beach(yeah, with a pomeranian). Again a simple story(too simple actually) but some really witty situational dialogues and neat screenplay ascertains you a perfect entertainer for all the 50 bucks and 2.5 hrs u spend for a movie. Prakash Raj at his usual best, I think, his 1st try at fulltime comedy. Prithiviraj, with his tinge of mallu accent gives him good scope for comedy and he is really natural. Jo, in her last film, ends her career in a really high note and proves again that she is the best actor among the current crop. Her exceptionally expressive face suits really well for the deaf-mute character. Swarnamalya fits in well but sometimes a bit over expressive(typical of ne Bhratnatyam dancer?). Keeps u entertained !!

KB, Bharathiraaja, BaluMahendra revived tamil film industry - gave some really gud story-oriented movies when MGR and Sivaji were in their wrong side of their fifties. Ppl loved the change from erstwhile hero-oriented movies. Now, both Kamal and Rajini in their late fifties and not many of the present actors going for good cinema these days, its high time that directors like Ameer, RadhaMohan, Cheran, Selvaraghavan, Gautam Menon(too talented yet frivolous) to change the face of 'mafia'-oriented cinema. Only Mani and Shankar stand apart in creating magic in fiction and fantasy irrespective of the cast. I guess its gonna be gud competition b/w realistic cinema and real cinema in yrs to come..

iPhone, 3G and WiFi..

the new Iphone rocks.. except for the no-3G and a meagre 2.0 MP cam.. but therz WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0.. Engadget had a gr8 live blog from Stevie J's key note.. Steve sure did rock . And Apple Computers is jus Apple Inc.

But I always wondered the emergence of wireless competition between 3G n Wimax .. sure and 3G - 4G is a wonderful technology.. but to get it to user level wud surely take time... but cant the same be made available with WiMax technology.??? sure for cellfone manufacturers it doesnt make a diff b/w incorporating a 802.11/b/g/n interface or a 3G system..

For service providers, new spectrum, new systems in place, new market.. and for users.. it would certainly cost them dear atleast till the market stabilises.. remember when cellfone came into existence, it was 8Rs outgoing n 4 for incoming. Only thing I see that brings the initial cost down is video call and may be video broadcast on 3G..I cant predict how video calls wud go well with Indians but I see IPTv thru wifi coming well ahead of 3G/4G mobile TV.

Tho 3G mobiles are very prevalent in India, only a couple of months back the Indian govt has granted permission to release 3G spectrum for service providers.. new spectrum, new hardware, new systems it wud atleast be 2010 for 3G market to gain momentum but making chennai/ blore wifi-ed wudnt take a month ?!! Ought to be cheaper and I see a nice market for IPTv here with ads.. Is some service provider listening ?

How abt this? Nokia-Tata Sky-Airtel broadband convergence.. Airtel can make the a city WiMax with 802.16e with 70Mbps speed. Tata Sky providing all the channels they provide thru broadband.. smaller screen, Less resolution, less bandwidth and Nokia providing mobile handsets with wiMax.

How will this business gonna do?!

Its so funny to see billboards of Yahoo ! and AOL on hosur road.. Y! has a very conspicuous "free mail".. its akin to any soap ad with a BOGOF offer.. I am not sure what segment of ppl they are targeting.. any Tom, Dick and Harry accessing the net will know that there are hoards of free mail sites scattered. With the next gen Web 2.0, wiki and open source peaking on the net, even office tools are online and free. Atleast AOL in this regard was decent enuf to have a "I entertain 100 m people ..". Competing with Y!'s billboard is rediff's TV ads on how fast rediff is. BTW, is anybody using rediff mails? its Gmail for me anyday and for that matter every single Google product rocks !

Is Y! targetting the "hey, this is free" mentality of Indian public..?! cheap ! they already have a strong base in India as they are one of the pioneers on the www. I was introduced to net in my eleventh standard and I thot Y! was a tool to access the web. And when I went for browsing the 1st time, I asked the guy at the counter showing off my internet knowledge, "is Y! available?"...he replied "yeah, every other site is also available".. !!!

After a perfect weekend(as in 1.eating,2.sleeping..repeat steps 1 and 2 n times wher n is generally a 2digit number) at home, took a spl train from Pothanur (dint get tickets in island express) and was supposed to reach blore at arnd 0500 hrs... I woke up at 5 and the train was at a very familiar station.. I asked a guy standing near the door what station that was.. That idiot told me it was Blore CANTT.. sleepy me woke up and alighted there only to realise that it wasnt CANTT .. By the time I realised the train sped away.. okie, fine way to start a day I thot and and started walking in the direction as everybody else, still not knowing what station it was.. man..It was 5 in the morning and u expected me to be..er..myself ?!

Then I learnt that it was KR Puram.. KR puram: Blore is as good as Perumbur:Chn ... Queues of autos were waiting for their preys.. Checked an auto for K'mangala, that bugger asked for 150 bucks..I smirked and proceeded to the next one, "200 saar" was the reply.., the next one asked me 250 bucks.. my face had a pathetic "boss, I paid 181 for cbe to blore..." look.. now the logical step was to ask an auto before the 1st one rite? I did and seems that guy dint know this trend and asked for 150 bucks (silly fellow).. I said this is too much and asked 1.5*meter.. he immediately said ok and reached home after a loooooong journey and the meter read 126 bucks, that means me have to give him 189, thats 39 bucks more than wht he asked and 9 Rs more than what I had spent fo travelling 425km from cbe to blore... Damn !

WC matches shown on ESPN n STAR doesnt have same ado as Champions League. Simultaneous telecast on STAR n ESPN for the 1st time yday and there was nothing for the prequel and aftermath of the matches for STAR, meanwile ESPN was on its usual self with Harsha was rattling out his football knowldege .. Even after the 1st half, no analysis or whatsoever on STAR.. they were jus showing the top 10 goals of this WC. This is THE WORLD CUP and much is expected outa of ESPN STAR !

One thing that can draw away men from football is probably women, TEN sports seems to get a cue from this and were telecasting a show on NHL cheergals and their life when the soccer matches were going on... :D

I donno y but am so obsessed with the "Normal Distribution" these days.. For every thing I observe be it any attribute, IQ, skills, prowess,art I tend to fit that into a normal distribution and start thinking over how the distribution lies, where I might fit the normal curve and what % of ppl might fit in the extreme ends of the famous bell curve.. Thankfully I havent gone to the extend of calculating the mean, variance and stuff..

Tho the only reservation I am concerned about is of S6, S7, S8 kind, I couldnt resist posting this small incident. My uncle recently bought a car and was unable to find space for parking as any such parking on our street would affect the heavy traffic both ways..er..well, ok..our street is so small for any kind of encroachments..

Soon enuf, he heard that somebody has opened a pay-n-use parking lot and thot of availing its services and contacted the person in charge. On contacting he was told that the parking lot was only for "Chettiar" cars... Baffled, my uncle walked away contemplating on buying a "chetti" car rather than a Maruti !

Hmm.. first it was for Gods, then for people..not its for cars..

Every other Ad on TV has a popular no. as the background music..'New', 'Endrendum Punnaga', 'Uyirin Uyire' and even one ad had a famous old song. FYI Rahman started as a jingle composer. (For Narasu's coffee, I guees) I dont feel its a good trendsetter as jingle compositions shud serve as a good pedestal for upcoming Music directors.

Counqueror's Expansion

Champions, Arbalests, Halberdiers, Trebuchets, Barracks, Knights were the only things going on in my mind over the last weekend, reason being a small AOE tournament held in my unit/DU/Dept.. whatever..

Was lucky to have friends who are born gamers as a team( me , rich and akhi). Totally 16 teams of 3 participated in knockout tournament of 2 rnds and a final. 1st two rounds were Death Matches and the final was a standard game. The 1st round was a bit tuf and we beat the oppenents in 45 mts (AOE time) but in the 2nd round we decimated the opposition in 28 minutes (again AOE time)

The final being a standard game took a little more than a hour and we emerged champions as the opposition could not stand akhi's invasion (as was the case in earlier rounds also).. Yep, I know I have to answer the question, what I was doing there.. Generally my fav past time is picking up relics and jus 1 was left to be picked up before Akhi and Rich thrashed the opposition and but I finished the game with resources enuf to make considerable amount of wonders :P

Tho I dont have a flair for gaming had a nice time thru out !

One thing that never cease to amaze me is the responsibility of every Tom, Dick n Harry on the road to indicate that the headlight on ur vehicle is 'ON' ..yeah, of course during daytime ;) .. This is simply awesome, with TN's assembly elections coming up, our politicians never cease to bring out suprises. First it was Vaiko's stunt by shuttling between DMK and ADMK's alliances and then settling down at Poes Garden.. Next day MSM and Blogworld screamed "Y Go?".. not to mention, Cartoonists and joke writers across TN had a gala time over this.

But this one takes the cake, DMK announced their manifesto yday offering color TVs for every household. The reason quoted was 'for women's recreation and General knowledge'.. Oh yeah, SUN TV is nothing short of NGC..

Since DMK's manifesto is so enticing, What would be ADMK's.. contemplating over, to beat DMK's appeasement on 'Ladies sentiment'(sic), I wudnt be surprised if Amma announces a 'color computer'(yeah, color only) to every student or a '1 sovereign gold coin' to every unmarried woman again to appease the 'Ladies sentiment'(sic).. after all Men r considered to come with 'No tags attached'.. no sentiments whatsoever. :P

But what will our patriot, revolutionary captain come up with... discman with CDs of all captain films or video IPOD loaded with the same, better !

Sports Day

Truly a sports day yday ..3 matches, 1 amazing race.. I cud see jus one of them on DD.. jus coz Tamil Nadu doesnt have Star Sports and ESPN.. Arent there any sports enthusiasts there?? so much for SCV's monopoly.. Darn !!

Windies lost by 27 runs chasing 300 albeit they were 148 for no loss at 1 stage..
Imagine 49 sixes , 872 runs in 99.5 overs..OZ scoring 434 and proteas actually chasing it.. damn ! I jus cud not watch the runs galore..
in fact Telemachus bowled 1 maiden in this match, he definetely deserves the man of the match :P

1-2 pole for the prancing horses. New qualifying format, old tyre rules, lots of overtakings, Rosberg getting points for his amazing debut, 4 cars for redbull - two on Ferrari, other 2 on Cosworth..talk abt range ! I jus cud not watch Schumi back on podium after the 2005 debacle...Damn..Damn.. Damn !!

I successfully booked a train-ticket from Blore to Cbe (kurla exp 1013) thru the recently introduced e-ticket.

where the ticket is jus a PRINTOUT OF THE APPLICATION FORM

Now the facility is in all major trains..

the procedure is simple

1. login to irctc.co.in (if u dont have an a/c.. create one)

2. Fill up the details as u do in reservation counter (select e-ticket and not i-ticket)

3. U need to provide a foto-id as proof while travelling so give the details of the SAME in the application

can be ur licence, PAN,voter id etc

4. For payment u have a lot of options like VISA/MASTER/DINERS CLUB credit card or payment thru major banks (ICICI, HSBC etc)

5. Once u have done the payment successfully , it gives the details of the berth(coach and seat no.) n also the PNR no. of the ticket

6. Jus take the print out of the form along with foto-id n travel in train

7. The whole service costs 25 bucks + ticket charges.

8. Can be done only if the berths are available
9. Cancellation of e-ticket is done by the same means (n not at any reservation counter)

I tried thru credit card payment but it failed initially.. then I tried thru Bank payment..

Once u click the 'make a payment' tab..it goes to ur e-banking facility (ICICIBANK.COM, in my case)

..where it makes ur payment after u enter ur transaction password.

Found it safe n effortless.. u dont have to find time to goto the reservation counter ..all jus for 25 bucks (for a ticket n not per head)

Car festival

Back in school days, the 1st wed of March is always a half-day at school..wait.. that was when my school wasnt working in shifts.. reason being the annual car festival(தேர் திருவிழா) of 'Koniamman' temple, often heralded as the guardian temple of the city. Sources say that the Coimbatore was earlier called 'Koniamman pudur' and some traversing over a period time thru a lot of changes, the city is now called Coimbatore..

Last sunday me been there to the temple with mom for the 'mavilaku' function.. a special diya made out of jaggery and rice...offered to the deity. This is typically celebrated for a week with various rites like "1008 diyas", "mavizhaku" etc.. along with some classical music functions happening daily.

Highlight of the week-long function is the CAR festival that usually happens during the 1st wed of March and that closes the week-long celebration. The deity is proceed around the streets (for a few Kms) in a mammoth chariot/car(தேர்) which is abt 50 ft tall with stone wheels of abt 2-3 m in diameter often pulled by ropes.. Koniamman தேர் is one of the tallest ones in TN.

Lots of ppl seeking blessing pull the ropes of the cararound the streets. Since the car is taller than the elec poles, the wires are removed temoved temporarily and the electricity is cut around the time the procession takes place. Huge amt of ppl throng the streets trying to get a glimpse of the deity.

Nice celebration, too bad I miss it after I moved to blore.. Anyways I went the temple and saw the தேர் being built while coming back. Dont miss this when u r at cbe during the 1 week of March by any chance.

Yday, me had been to the 2nd largest Barista in India..yeps, at East.Tv swamy rd, RS puram, Coimbatore.. It's a duplex one with good lounges and importantly, good private space.. surely better than the CCD across the road. Has a separate section for the 'I wanna have a fag with coffee' ppl and also an open-air division.

Cosmo looking crowd with mostly "Dad's an ATM" kids. Nice hangout place if u are suited to such kinda places..wud surely pose a biz threat to CCD.

One thing that never cease to amaze me is Google, started in 1998 as a search engine with jus 23 words on its home page and now the fastest growing company on Earth. Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, I would surely call them magicians. Now google is synonymous with search and it has become a verb as in 'Google it up!'

Gmail, well over 2 Gigs per id and still counting, when introduced, created a mass hysteria, now they have 'chat' within Gmail..cool.

Orkut - Half my time on net is spent on this.. Was able to meet my school buddies, long lost friends, interesting ppl, interesting discussuions n what not..tho other networking sites like ryze, Hi5 were there, u cannot beat orkut.
Google reader, print, videos, Google Talk, Froogle, Adsense all seriously amazing stuff ! Get them all here.

Now they have Google Base, where u can store all kinds of data to be searched. My personal fav is Google Earth, I am sure, the day isnt far when I can see myself thru satellite thru google.

In fact, blogger is also a part of Google. (Google bought it in 2002)

I almost screamed over the fone , "SO, what are you gonna give me ?? a personal loan or a life time free gold credit card or house loan or a gal friend ??? ..this was when I heard a feminine voice saying 'Hello'.. I generally say a patient 'no' to these spam calls, but this was when I rushing to catch my office shuttle, early in the morning, 10.30 AM !!

I held back from screaming (huh!) and said hello !... suprisingly it was from a buddy..She was just returning a call as I had called her when she was busy.

On contemplating over the call, I realised that the only feminine voices I hear over the phone were from call-centre executives and I assumed the same when my friend had called and almost screamed at her.

Wow !! good going, I said to myself .. What a life ?! :)

Karnataka's KSRTC bus service is one of the better inter-state transport I have seen.. from normal 'budget' deluxe buses to volvo buses, they have it all..

Now BMTC, Blore's local bus transport service competing with KSRTC has added volvo AC buses to its fleet, with initial service operating from Majestic to Electronic city and another one from Majestic to ITPL, targeting the IT population of the city. The buses look amzing, I wasnt able to get pics from the net, else wud have posted it here. They charge u abt 30 bucks from Majestic to E-city.

It was around the time when our PM was Narasimha 'Whats-a-smile?' Rao had opened the Indian markets for Foreign investements, aping the west was its best. The Indian public started getting the best media exposure, apparently there was a sudden surge in the Apparel industry and Indian roads even in smaller cities and towns saw a large no. juvenile dames sporting jeans and T-shirts, even shorts which was looked upon scornfully by the ultra-conservative insipid so-called culture guardians.

Gals being gals decided to oblige with tradition but did not want to lose out on the garment front . Days became months, years n the evolution started, Duppatta was considered as a nuisance as sporting it while riding resulted in bad injuries. Salwars became jeans. (still the purpose remained rite?).. Then the world saw kurtas instead of Kameez, later transformed into shorter kurtas, tighter ones.. As days went by, jeans and T-shirts, once contemptuously looked is now not an issue.We see all kuppathas to muniammas in Tees and jeans

I must sincerely appreciate the way the gals made the society conveniently turn a blind eye to this evolution. Guys, hope u are not missing the under the belt vertical evolution of salwars-to-jeans-to-3/4th-to-shorts ???

I have been using ICICI credit cards for almost 2 years.. used CC for almost all purchases ranging from getting a single Dosa@The Forum to a SONY WEGA for home.. No issues until last month I forgot to pay the dues..

This month's statement had a Late payment fees of 300 bucks and a service tax of 30 INR.. all for an outstanding amt of Rs.700.. I jus shot one mail to the a/c manager saying I have been a prompt payer of CC dues blah..blah., I want the late payment fees reverted back and next day it got reversed !!! :) :)

But next day's statement when viewed online, they had charged me an interest of 250 bucks for the late payment and for all the purchases after that... weird !!! One more mail to the manager and this too got reversed back !!! :)

After reading abt a lota credit card blues, I was quite surprised to see such 'customer care' from ICICI guyz.. All done with jus 2 mails.. cool !! Things do work properly !

Therez a small temple near my house in cbe called 'Black' Mariamman temple..well, thats what ppl call that temple.. me used to wonder y such name tho' all Mariamman idols in most of the temple are black in color..r was it the anglicised version of 'karu'Mariyamman ?? (thx Arun ;) )

Then when inquired, it turned out to be 'Plague' Mariamman temple... Thanks to eloquent Tanglish speaking ability of the ppl, Plague became Black...

Seems that Plague erupted across South India in 1898 and the epidemic took a heavy toll. People believed that pleasing Goddess Mariamma would eradicate Plague and built Mariamman temples in lots of places including, suprisingly, Bangalore,(Source : Wikipedia) But the name 'Plague Mariamman' sounds otherwise.. :)

It was love at first sight. I still remember the minute I saw her, a fine breezy morning of Jan 31st, 2004 in Chennai, not the romantic of cities, but still, the aura she spread made me think so. She was introduced to me by my cousin n I was just bowled over in the first meeting. We struck a chord immediately.

She has been with me ever since, thru the ups and downs of my life hearing all my cribs, laughter.. running thru all my emotions. Not many my friends knew that I was this close with her.

She was a model had excellent features, amazing curves. I jus loved her more than anything in the world. Moreover, she wasnt possessive, allowed me to flirt with her other-model friends. I used to do it shamelessly right under her nose. :)

Every day she wakes me up promptly no matter how crude my fingering was, the previous night ;) She has a amazing voice and jus before sleeping I used to make her sing my fav numbers and she did without any second thought. She always urges me to keep in tuch with my friends and help me call them often remembering the no.s of every single friend I have. I was really proud to have her.

For almost 2 years, we dint have any problems and the all of sudden over the weekend she broke. I persuaded her to be her ownself but she refused.. I have no idea !! I am lost, I feel disconnected from the world. I feel so alone..I want to talk to her... I cannot live without her, I cannot live without my cell..Nokia 6100, my precious !

With some benign intention of making some cool money thru google ads, I signed up for google adsense for this page.. okie, money isnt the only criteria, I had quite a few reasons like, the left column of the page is empty, 2 know abt adsense etc.. and atleast this wud urge me to blog more and get a bit of page hits..

Then came a reply saying they wud resort back in a few days after reviewing.. if this page conforms with their ..blah..blah.. After a few days, I got a reget mail saying that this page will not be allowed to host google ads. Reason stated : "My blog is in primarly in a language that is not supported by google ".. Oh my gosh.. I jus had one post in thamizh.. what happened to google's niche in dealing in intricate details???

Also, why isnt Thamizh supported by google (herez the list of supported languages ) .. classical language, 5000 yrs old !! Is Ramadoss listening ???!!!

My trips to cbe, mostly been alone, not that I prefer but it too turns out to be as fascinating as a chat r with 'someone' ... Observing(!) ppl never fails to amuse u..Nope, I dont eavesdrop, u can call it overhearing *grin*

Last friday, I opted to board the Kurla at Cantontment station...(Not that I wanted a change, but dint want to miss the train..I almost missed once-thanx to the usual friday jam near Majestic) I reached Cant a big one hr b4 Kurla had planned to reach.. Now, the luxury of boarding at Cant is, with jus one platform, u have all the privilege in the world to observe all genre of ppl waiting for their trains across the platform..

I jus walked amidst the dense crowd hoping to find a congenial spot to place my baggage ..my ass as well, I was jus able to find a small elevated slab narrow enuf to place either my baggage or my butt, I resorted to place the thinner one..ya u r rite, my baggage..2 much digressing? ok, lemme get back.. I jus stood beside my baggage, with an air of indifference, back of mind tracing for a bait to make my ear drums n gray cells active..

Tracing jus stopped short when I heard two guyz talking in English with some accent and fluency ,I bet,any make BPO guy wud feel inferior...With some audacity I shud say, I shamelessly overheard their conversation.. They were talking how 'they' looked 'down' upon the BPO and the software industry. One quoted 'dumb jobs for dumb ppl'. Then the topic changed to the accents and content value they obsevere in such low profiled techies, seems its all pesudo-accents and failure to bring out adrenaline in their expressions. phew !! Perhaps, God is so dumb not to place Medulla oblongota not so near the vocal chords. From their talk abt presentations and English, I guessed they must be marketing grads from B-schools where they teach *Attitude*. They soon parted after a small hug and a kiss(!), much to my relief.

Some benches got free as special train to Chennai burdened itself with more passengers. I jus sat near a sober looking family, the only entertaining member being a kid counting the no. of bogies of a goods trains.. I becames nostalgic, as I used to do the same as a kid, half the time losing count midway.. A ringtone broke a brief silence as the young gal took out the 2100 (perfect handy tubelight !). Next train expected was mine and with a solid 20 mins to go, I found 2 hefty looking guyz heading straight to an empty bench near mine, close enuf for my ear drums to pick up sounds... In fact I wanted to read something, but the dimness of the light was sharp enuf to inflict some pain to my eyes, I prefered my ears to do the talking.. :) They were talking abt their good ol' college days where one was a big bully and how he attracted quite a no. of good looking babes by showing off his *attitude*... sure is, I mused. Topic came to how miser the Indian software paymasters are, while publicly discussing their salaries. Talk abt public displays of stupidity !!

Soom my train arrived, I boared amidst some shoving and pushing to find their 'allocated' berths.. INDIA?, I climbed on to my berth.. slowly dozing off to sleep...waiting for the TTR to check my ticket.. One quote came to my mind ..One cannot judge people, coz, people are people.. they are what they are !! - as quoted by Mr.beautiful accent guy .

Minutes ticking.. no sign of that bugger.. may be I shud shout like ambi(in anniyan) TTRRRRRRRRRR ....

Function ?!

Over the weekend had to witness a function at my place : 'puberty function'.. well thats what the invitation read.. for my cousin. Seriously I am not aware of the consequences of hosting such functions. But a question that I would love to ask these hosts, ur child has attained puberty, Congratulations ! U have a healthy gal !! .. but y make it public ? Attaining puberty is something personal, very personal..God, please drive some sense to these minds !!!
Imagine the mental trauma the young gal had to experience over the entire function, that too a 11 yr old kid.. kneeling down to get the blessings of elders.. posing for photographs with almost 500 odd ppl who had come to attend the 'function'.. including a handful of teenaged guys whom my bro invited.. sheesh !!
Thanks to all the old fashioned grandmas who hold pride in hosting such ceremonies, preserving the Indian tradition and the magnanimity of my uncle who spent a sum of atleast .5 Lac... hoping to get some gifts for the function ??, I wonder what gifts these ppl give for such functions.. sanitary napkins??

One thing everyone in Infosys take pride in bragging abt Infy is its spectacular buildings, landscapes..It has almost everything, everything as in everything.. from dominoes to Coffeday to Amul, from tennis courts to cricket grounds.. world class gym, sauna, pool..facilities, best in business..name it, Infy has it...
I usually say to my friends.. Infy has everything expect a barber shop.. but wait somebody has heard me say that, a lot of times too, now they have opened a new 'skin n Hair care salon' .. now what do I say?

.. me saw Anniyan on monday in cbe, had actually kept it to watch it in PVR.. but had to succumb to my ever-profound affinity towards Shankar-social theme movies and that 2 with my firiends' gud rating of the movie..
Quite a movie, shud say.. vikram was simply amazing.. I will be surprised if he doesnt get an national award jus for the climax..for the trivia Anthony Hopkins got the oscar for his 16 min appearance in the movie 'Silence of the lambs'..
gud break for vivek after a not-so-gud-going movies, He and Sujatha made the pace of the movie, tho' not in his traditional style, he has proved that he's best in business..
I jus cant stop writing abt vikram, this man has taken so much care to prove that he is best time and again... This isnt Shankar's movie but a vikram one.. _amazing_
Harris Jeyaraj wasnt that classy when compared to all the technicalities in the movie..
But had to witness Indian,Mudhalvan, gentleman shadows in Anniyan...
worth a watch .. a second time 2...

There are 2 kinds of audience, those who appreciate Mani Ratnam movies and those who dont. Feeling sorry for the 2nd category of ppl, I make an humble attempt to write a review for Ayitha Ezhuthu.. Mani ratnam films , always are a class apart, n as expected this was no exception. Came out 4m the theater with a satisfaction of seeing a gud movie after a long time, the last gud movie I saw was incidently Kannathil muthamittal. Mani, the best project manager i can say, knows how to extract best, Take a bow ! Characterisations always mark any of his movies, well, this movie is all abt 3 characters, 3 youngsters brought up in diff surroundings with his own perception of the world !
The cast is highly remarkable, Maddy as Inbashekaran, brought up as a street urchin in the slums of chennai .. Surya as Michael vasanth, a born genius, a student leader ..Siddharth as Arjun Balakrishnan is Casanova II aspiring 2 have fun and fun only.paring them are Meera jasmine as sasi, Isha deol as and Trisha as Meera in that order.. The story is abt the three youngsters happening 2 come across each other on Napier bridge..and how their life change after that. well the story starts only in the mid - 2nd half ..the rest of the story is about what these characters really are !! a different attempt can say, after all is what Mani's movies are ..more about the story will be an injustice 2 a gr8 movie..so left 2 u 2 c..
Maddy,easily the pick of the actors..I think this will be his best performance, he has gone heights, way 2 go Maddy ..keep it up !one can c the rawness and the crude behavior in every move, an exhibit of a beautiful acting.. Surya, as the name goes , rises day by day, film by film .. yet another marvellous performance..done brilliantly in a character every youngster aspires 2 be.. Siddharth fits in this one, cool performance, have 2 c a few movies to judge better, neways , a gud artist in the making..Meera jasmine, man ! where was this beautiful actress all these yrs?? gr8 performance !! gr8 talent wasted in movies of pudhiya geethai caliber... Trisha, no big role to perform and no comments on Isha deol (has 2 be really careful, her mom could be a threat !) mani always pays equal importance to the techies, puts in a gr8 mix ..AR Rahman, Vairamuthu, Ravi.K.Chandran, 'Vikram' Dharma, Sabu cyril - real world class.. everyone at their personal best. Songs are exceptionally gud, 'Fanaa' (read -> death for a gud cause) stands tall for its lyrics, Music, Dance, set, picturisation..what not !! Jana gana mana - a clean score - gonna be a hit.Nee yaro - bow to Ravi.K.Chandran ..simply awesome photography..u never know its our gud old Marina where the song was shot ! And going for the real picture, we can c Mani's touch at several instances, the twists, churn, turns , u can never be short of suprises..another world class Screen play..dialogues by Sujatha- for a man he is, yet another performance..If you are looking for faults in the movie, only one i can c was deja-vu of Mani's old performances.. can c Nirosha of Agni nakshtram, Karthik of Mouna Ragam, etc...
A real worth for ur money !!
