U have got mail

Y! has a very conspicuous "free mail".. its akin to any soap ad with a BOGOF offer.. I am not sure what segment of ppl they are targeting.. any Tom, Dick and Harry accessing the net will know that there are hoards of free mail sites scattered. With the next gen Web 2.0, wiki and open source peaking on the net, even office tools are online and free. Atleast AOL in this regard was decent enuf to have a "I entertain 100 m people ..". Competing with Y!'s billboard is rediff's TV ads on how fast rediff is. BTW, is anybody using rediff mails? its Gmail for me anyday and for that matter every single Google product rocks !
Is Y! targetting the "hey, this is free" mentality of Indian public..?! cheap ! they already have a strong base in India as they are one of the pioneers on the www. I was introduced to net in my eleventh standard and I thot Y! was a tool to access the web. And when I went for browsing the 1st time, I asked the guy at the counter showing off my internet knowledge, "is Y! available?"...he replied "yeah, every other site is also available".. !!!
