Function ?!

Over the weekend had to witness a function at my place : 'puberty function'.. well thats what the invitation read.. for my cousin. Seriously I am not aware of the consequences of hosting such functions. But a question that I would love to ask these hosts, ur child has attained puberty, Congratulations ! U have a healthy gal !! .. but y make it public ? Attaining puberty is something personal, very personal..God, please drive some sense to these minds !!!
Imagine the mental trauma the young gal had to experience over the entire function, that too a 11 yr old kid.. kneeling down to get the blessings of elders..
posing for photographs with almost 500 odd ppl who had come to attend the 'function'.. including a handful of teenaged guys whom my bro invited.. sheesh !!
Thanks to all the old fashioned grandmas who hold pride in hosting such ceremonies, preserving the Indian tradition and the magnanimity of my uncle who spent a sum of atleast .5 Lac... hoping to get some gifts for the function ??, I wonder what gifts these ppl give for such functions.. sanitary napkins??
Life is so complicated, y no farewell party at menopause?

    howdy,

Yeah, I felt the same, and could relate to you as well to what Partiban had to say in IVAN..he says exactly the same as you lament here....food for thought...may be we shd make a start, by not having such public functions for our children in future...coz I belive u can make the world belive in u only if u practice it...:-)

    Good...

    I appreciate that buddy..

ya man..sick minds..why no party or celebration at menopause..

the whole world is driven by one thing boss!...and that is evolution which take forward the humanity..and probabaly thats the reason ..our ancestors had made it a tradition..and occasion to celebration..but...in todays modern world...it loses relevance..
